Often when we install under stairs storage we supply the face panels finished with two coats of primer. The reason for this is that we cut them to neatly fit after the drawers are in place which risks marring any painted surface. Generally it is more cost effective for the new owner of the storage system to apply the topcoat him or her self. When the budget does allow for us to complete the painting my favourite paint for the job is one made by a Finnish company called Tikkurila. Their water based furniture paint is very slow drying compared to most (the re-coat time is 16 hours) but this means it goes on beautifully, giving you a really nice, even and opaque surface. The only thing I’m not so keen on is the brand name but otherwise it is well worth the extra time and cost in my view!
